I grew up in San Diego riding and racing bmx bikes in the late 70's early 80's. I was lucky to race for a local Schwinn shop called "Randalls Bike Shop". We were one of many grass roots teams popping up in those days. Those were great times. We raced the local circuit, Rancho San Diego, La Mesa, Morley field Velodrome and ventured north to L.A. for occasional races. I also spent a large amount of time racing side hack, with a close friend Larry D'angelo. I was the driver and he was the monkey, good fun! In 2005 Keith Darner talked me into going to a Mountain States Cup event at Keystone; and in 2006 I officially joined RPM. My first season was a blast in 30+ expert. The camaraderie I experienced with my fellow competitors was unbelievable. The 2006 30+ expert class was so inspiring. Great people, great racing, good times. In 2007 I broke a bone in my foot at the Wave House in San Diego and was basically out for the season. That was a huge bummer. To say the least, I'm excited to get back on it and have a successful full season in 2008 Semi Pro. I also look forward to playing a larger role for Keith with helping to manage RPM. I really enjoy watching our young riders come up through the ranks. I currently live in Salida, Colorado with my wonderful wife Susan and our newest addition Isabel Florence Hughes. I can't wait to get her a full suspension tricycle. Is there a one year old beginner class?
