This past weekend I attended the second Pro GRT in Plattekill, New York. Coming into the weekend my main goal was to qualify for the Junior Worlds team by winning, and have fun doing it. I flew into New York city on Thursday and drove up to the venue from there, the course was amazing: super rough with drops all the way down and awesome berms littered through the track. First day of practice on Friday was super fun, it was awesome to be riding a lift again and the conditions were perfect. I was feeling pretty good on the course and was super stoked for more riding time the next day. Saturday went similarly, just having fun and trying to get the course dialed for race day. On the morning of race day I rained and turned the track into a greasy, slop-fest; but it dried up by race time. My qualifying run went awful, I accidentally splashed chain lube on my brake rotor, which resulted in no brakes and a tree to the head halfway down. I tried to gather my thoughts and calm down for the race, but I was super anxious and nervous. My race run went well, I hit almost everything great, with only a few bobbles, and I came in fourth. I was not very excited about my result because I was looking for the win, but it was good to get the experience on the east coast, and I learned a lot from the weekend.
