Crested Butte this year was phenomenal. It is one of my favorite races every year because of the venue. It has breath taking views, amazing weather, and a cool little town. After a long off season, It felt great to be at a race again. Coming off this winter, I felt mentally and physically prepared. Being off the bike really helped me get my head straight. Staying in the presidential suite in Crested Butte with the Branneys also helped too, thanks guys. The new track was much better than the past few years' tracks. It was still very physical but at least there were no disgusting uphills, there were some fun little features and some great high speed sections. The first day of practice I felt a little rough, not quite how I like to feel. My lines were off and I wasn't going at a comfortable speed. Towards the end of the day on Saturday was when I really started to feel good, I hit a couple lines that I knew were difficult for others in my class. My race run on Sunday was flawless, I stuck every line down to the last centimeter. My fitness level was good but not good enough for the win. While I'm pleased with my result, I know I can do better and I will do better. I'm looking forward to slaying there next year.
