Chalk Creek Stampede 2009

This year's Chalk Creek Stampede in Nathrop, CO, was a major success. Everyone involved had a great time of riding in the nice weather and on awesome courses. After some fun practice on Friday, Saturday morning opened up with the CAT 2-3 4X seeding and qualifying. The races were quite exiting to watch, with the RPM crew racing well and having a good time. That afternoon, the CAT 1 and Pro racers competed their seeding and qualifying. The new five-pack (dubbed the Quintuplets) on the Extra Crispy course was a fun and interesting addition to the already flowy course, and made the riders think twice before doubling and manualing. Despite the tiny brackets (only 6 CAT 1 15-18 racers), the racing was very close and intense; with a picture perfect finish between Mitch Repalato and Petr Hannak.

Sunday was the Daul Slalom. the same format was applied, CAT 2-3 in the morning and CAT 1 and Pro in the afternoon. As is always the case at Nathrop's dual slalom, the racing was very close as the riders figured out the new first straight. Every single racer out there seemed to be just tearing apart the perfect berms.

In the end, the weekend was just another time to hang out with friends and ride bikes. Everybody rode well, enjoyed the courses, and had fun!
